MUSIC FROM AND INSPIRED BY DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES

Released on September 20th 2005, this soundtrack produced by Mitchell Leib, Marc Cherry and Bonnie Greenber not only has music that relates to the show, but features bits of dialogues of each housewife (Mary Alice, Edie, Lynette, Bree, Gabrielle and Susan). This pieces also separate the themes of the songs, all sung by women; it couldn't be any other way.

Right after Mary Alice's first words, there's a generic song about housewives by SHeDAISY, which also got a videoclip shot with the band recreating some of the most famous DH scenes.

Next comes Edie's comment to her late friend Martha Huber when she complained about Edie's late-night visitors. And Shania Twain's song "Shoes" comes now, comparing men with the different kind of shoes; followed by Anna Nalick's "Band Of Gold".

Lynette's cry of help after her ADD pills addiction gives room to "Mother's Little Helper", cover of the Rolling Stones' song, treats the subject of women recurring to medication to help themselves get through their routines. Another classic, "Mrs. Robinson" on the voices of the Indigo Girls, made famous by Simon & Garfunkel takes us to Martina McBride and her "Harper Valley PTA".

Now is Bree's turn and she confronts Rex about his mid-life crisis. LeAnn Rimes ("We're Running Of Time"), Joss Stone ("Treat Me Right (I'm Yours For Life)") and Sara Evans' "One's On The Way" are next. I would have put this one on Lynette's section, she's the one popping kids after all.

Gabrielle shares her insight about money and happiness when Macy Gray's voice kicks in, as well as the great latin singer Gloria Estefan.

And Susan and her desperation for a relationship introduces "Damsel In Distress" by Indina Menzel and k.d lang.

Mary Alice, as usual, gets the final words followed by the show theme composed by Danny Elfman.

There's also a hidden track, rumored called Wisteria Lane and also rumored to be sang by Marc Cherry himself, the only man to have a voice on this album.
